Preventable Illness Vaccines
Equine:
Eastern/Western Equine Encephalomyelitis (EEE/WEE)
Protects against mosquito-borne viruses that cause brain inflammation.
West Nile Virus (WNV)
Protects against a mosquito-transmitted disease that can cause neurological symptoms.
Tetanus
Protects against Clostridium tetani, a bacterium found in soil that can cause muscle stiffness and spasms.
Rabies
Protects against a fatal viral disease that can be transmitted to humans.
Goat:
Clostridial Vaccine (CD&T)
Protects against
Clostridium perfringens Type C and D (Enterotoxemia): Often called "overeating disease," it can cause sudden death. Protects against tetanus, which can be introduced through wounds, especially after castration or kidding.
Schedule:
Kids: First dose at 6–8 weeks, booster 3–4 weeks later.
Adults: Annual booster or after injuries/surgery.
b. Rabies (where legally required or risk is present)
Protects against the rabies virus, which is almost always fatal once symptoms appear.
Schedule:
Administer annually after 3 months of age, especially if there is a local risk.
